Ode to Cameron Bieberle

I originally shot this cart because I pass it on my way to work every day-- they are actually attempting to sell an Albertson's shopping cart for $30. Hello. In the good old days on Miami Beach we used to go out on the town in a shopping cart quite often. I have quite some stories. But then- before I got a chance to blog this cart I saw this... ORLANDO, Fla., March 9 (UPI) -- An 18-year-old Florida man was killed while using a shopping cart to car-surf, Florida Today reported Sunday.Cameron Bieberle, 18, of Winter Park was thrown to the ground after the Cadillac sport utility vehicle he was holding onto hit a speed bump late Saturday night, investigators said."He was riding alongside a Cadillac Escalade, sitting in the cart and hanging onto the side," said Kim Miller, spokeswoman for the Florida Highway Patrol. "The Escalade hit a speed bump and he was ejected."No charges were filed against the SUV driver, Michael Smith of Orlando, police said. Miller noted that car-surfing is illegal in Florida."This is not safe. When you're doing something like this, you have no control," she said. "This is exactly the kind of outcome that could happen."

Cameron's parents must be going through a tough time. Many support the family and close friends. The funeral was very beautiful and many teens attended. Very sad a fun-filled night turned into something so traggic. In the future, hope good times will just be good times and not sad lessons.

May we keep Cameron's family and close friends in prayer during the rememberance of Cameron during his September birthday. What a blessing these families have been to the community.

cameron was an incredible person. I saw him the day before he died. He was driving with his friend and I waved to him. I will never forget my last image of him. I love you Cameron

Finally, 3 years later, the driver of the vehicle was charged with vehicular homicide and is now serving 4 years in jail and 11 years of probation along with 500 hours of community service and a permanently revoked drivers license. Goes to show, that even though it was an accident, all parties involved made bad choices. Unfortunately, Cameron's punishment was the worst possible as he can never come back. Mike will serve his time for the choice he made and then be able to continue living his life.

Mike only did 4 months and is out on a supersedeous bond while he appeals the courts ruling, so the verdict may get overturned. He is currently not in jail

I am so sorry Cameron lost his life but it was his choice to get in that cart, and ruining someone elses family is not going to get your son back. Your actions are only showing that you are not a christian, because they forgive. They dont hold onto anger and try tp destroy others.

I wonder how the Bieberle's would be acting if someone had died from a fall from the zipline that the father of cameron had from the top of his house to the ground. What if they were being charged with negligent homicide? It would be interesting to see how they would react to being ruined for an accident.
