The Greatest Show on Earth

Last night we went to see our friend Tom Dougherty the clown. You might say I know a lot of clowns-- but this one happens to be a real live clown in the circus.

Baby Bear

I am well aware that this is a cat. I did see a baby bear today at Oneonta Gorge. I had no camera!!!!!!! Oneonta is a wader and I didn't want to take any chances since it was my first time there. I am sure I will never see a baby bear there again!

Belly

Yum. It has been open a month and a half on the corner of MLK and Fremont and it is delicious. Yum. It also has what Portland is lacking in my opinion and that is a real bartender with personality and a great sense of humor. I had a strawberry mojito which was not a usual for me. This one was crisp and delicious. Strawberry makes me fear sweetness and some kind of nuclear red syrup- not this one. This one (okay, two) was perfect. We had an heirloom tomato salad which was atypical in that it has feta cheese instead of the more traditional mozz. The combination was very tasty and the tomatoes were grown in heaven. I don't even believe in heaven. Next I had the "braised pig" ravioli which sounds a little barbaric but Chris said it was good so I ordered it and savored every single bite. It was served with corn, cipollini onions and cherry tomatoes which was an interesting combo and I almost licked the plate. My friend has the gnocchi with bacon, scallions, creme fraiche and shaved white cheddar. I had a taste and could have scoffed down the whole thing. We were forced to eat desert. Trolls came out from under the bar and shackled our ankles to the stools. We had a bing cherry, brandy, Lady Finger and marscapone cheese extravaganza. Like it couldn't get any worse, Chris forced us to taste some of their homemade chevre ice cream. Yikes. My photos do not do it justice at all. I will be back. They have a few dishes available in two sizes which is nice. It is a little spendier than your average Portland corner pub but there's a reason for that-- it's gourmet deliciousness. There is nothing average about it. They have a brunch menu too, people. I will be back for brunch for sure. One more YUM.
